Board Development

Successful institutions profit from the expertise of their boards. Sometimes, despite a great deal of knowledge and skill in the room, these groups struggle to find direction.

With this in mind, IACE will develop governance initiatives for board members at various institutions, with the goal of enabling them to guide institutions in the direction of service to both church and society in a more faithful, effective manner.

A few key questions:

  • Does the organization have an effective mission statement and a practical, appropriate set of core values within a biblical worldview?

  • Is there an effective Board Policy Manual in place that thoroughly covers business routines and provides a strong, consistent procedural standard?

  • Are cooperative and collaborative initiatives in place across the campus that primarily serve and strengthen the institution?

  • Do board members have the necessary familiarity with essential functions and challenges, such as accreditation reaffirmation or best budgetary practices?

Please read an instructive blog piece by IACE board member Ralph Enlow titled Balancing Board Tensions to Keep Your Board in Tune for insight into how boards can steer clear of trouble and provide effective governance.

The IACE has an opportunity to serve as a global educational networking partner. It uses this platform to provide fellowship and development opportunities for boards, presidents and senior administrators to strengthen evangelical institutions, as well as other Great Commandment/Great Commission partners.
